I had a laptop, a laptop bag, my computer mouse, sunglasses and R3 090 cash from my vehicle. Our vehicles and house content is insured with Discovery. When I phoned Discovery to claim, I was told that they cannot process the claim as these items were not specified and that I should read my policy document. I immediately thought of Santam's ad with the four different shirts and fine print. I would've thought laptops are by now an everyday item. And how do you specify cash? And the same goes for sunglasses, almost every driver use them - why the need to specify? And this makes me wonder what else we are not insured for that we think we are covered for.
