First National Bank
FNB Homeloans - what discrimination!

I have had a bond with FNB (unfortunately) for the past 15 years. On applying in November 2012 for an additional amount off my bond I was accepted and signed the agreement for costs etc. However, due to the fact that the contact person had made a mistake on the original application - it was reviewed again and this time denied. This I was only informed of in February - my original submission being in November 2012!!! On enquiring I was told that they could not take my maintenance order (in the form of a garnishee order) into account so there was an affordability issue. I checked with the credit dept. who said the same thing - but felt it should be looked at including the maintenance amount and asked me to get them to re-assess, which I did. This took another week and they came back with the same answer as they had re-assessed without the maintenance! On sending a complaint to FNB - (prior to going to the Ombudsman) - they said they would now re-assess again. Needless to say we are now in mid May they have re-assessed and still declined as they STILL did the re-assessment without including the maintenance. This was just plain stupid and at the very least is discriminatory.
