Thank you to Standard Bank Master Card for detecting and stopping what seems to me like on-line on my Master Card account on 17 April 2013. A new card with an incorrect name and no contractual paperwork was issued over the counter at Standard Bank Montana within a week. Currently I receive reminders to pay on an overdue card (having made a minimum payment on Fri 3 May 2013 via Internet banking and have forwarded it to Standard Bank Card queries). SMS and calls still come through. I have the following uncertainties before me: I have tried to cancel this credit card before, and to arrange for its final settlement. I was told the card cannot be cancelled. In the mean time the card accumulates interest, is open to, and is rather a bind. Furthermore, the recent incident left me with a card with the wrong name, no contractual paperwork, and confusing messages. In challenging economic times I find Standard Bank Master Card to be placing me in increasingly embarrassing situations. I have been a services and interest-paying client since 1978/9. Sometimes trying to deal with Standard Bank feels like approaching a headless monster or a Chinese Triad who hides the boss man.
