CAR IN PANELBEATING FOR OVER 2 MONTHS

I was involved in a car accident in Centurion on 13 Feb 2013. Auto & General hired a Polo 1.4 from Budget Car Rental the following day for a 30-day period, but only approved the damages claim on the Audi A3 after 3 weeks. They made it clear that, once the car was referred to the panelbeater, it was no longer their responsibility. When the car rentaI term ended and no repair work had commenced, I complained to the insurer. The period was extended for a further week due to the delay in approving the claim. Again, at the end of the 2nd period, the parts had still not been secured because "new and used parts for a car manufactured in 2005 are hard to find"! A complaint to the insurer's website has yielded no results, as well as several complaints to the panelbeater, telephonically and in person. The panelbeater then gave an assurance that the car would be ready on 7 May 2013, but on enquiry this morning, the story now is that it will be out by 10 May 2013! This is unacceptable conduct by a company which accepts long lines of vehicles parked on its premises, knowing that it has limited staff to ensure a quick turnaround time. It is ensuring profits for itself at all costs!
