No response regarding cancelled groupon

I tried to redeem a Groupon but the provider said that their ownership had changed and that the Groupons were no longer valid. So I contacted Groupon to ask that they please cancel the Groupon and give me credit ASAP so I could get another one that was about to expire. I haven't heard back and now the Groupon I wanted has expired. Why is it so hard to get hold of them?
