My Wife and I took a Zambesie Toere "train vacation" through Namibia.
If operated in South Africa, it would have been illegal. So many Occupational Heath and Safety issues are totally ignored from the long bus drives (longer than the prescribed 7 hours per day per driver) up to the fact there is no basic first aid kit on the train. Security is non-existstant and a group of tourist had to guard the train.
The food is poor and the cook does not know the first thing about preparing even the basic meal. There are holes in the compartment and you can see your neighbor through it. The train is dirty and the bedding was not changed once during the 7 days. The tour program is as promised except you ride on gravel roads and the busses have got holes in the floor making it almost impossible to breath.
This is the worst operation I've ever experienced for any vacation. Do let the price fool you.
