Mweb
Listed on ITC without notification

In October 2011 MWeb listed a default (handed over) against me for the sum of R590 This was for 2 months ADSL service that was provided while I was on a monthly contract. I was contacted in July 2011 by MWeb's collections dept demanding payment on the account. At the time I was nearing 2 years of unemployment, and my wife was also unemployed, and could not afford to pay the outstanding amount. I did tell the agent of my dilemma and was told that they would contact me again to see if my situation changed. In September 2011 I finally secured a job and when I applied for vehicle finance the next month I was declined due to the listing. I was never given notice to make the payment or else I would be listed - against current NCA policies. I spoke to and met Shameel (MWeb Collections) who verbally said that once paid he would remove the listing. I paid the R590 and he gave me a letter stating that the amount has been settled in full but ha has never arranged to have my listing removed. I have now lost my job and am in the job market again, but cannot secure a role in my field due to this listing - only 6 months left. Once again a company flouting the National Credit Act.
