Losing paperwork on contract cancellation

I submitted a contract cancellation request at Vodacom Tygervalley on 25/11/2013 for my contract to be cancelled and number converted to prepaid. I was told that it would be converted to prepaid on 25/12/2013. This did not happen so I went back on 28/12/2013 to Vodacom Tygervalley and was told that cancellations take place at the end of the month so it would happen on 31/12/2013. I questioned why I was given incorrect information first time round and what the guarantee was that it wouldn't happen again. I was told that everything was now correct and the conversion to prepaid would definitely take place. Unsurprisingly it didn't happen!
On 03/01/2013 I called the cancellations department on 082 1958 and was told that they had not received any paperwork from Vodacom Tygervalley and that I would have to send it to them again. I refused and said they must get it from Vodacom Tygervalley.
I suppose with a rapidly deteriorating network and customer service to match, this is the only remaining strategy for Vodacom to try and hold on to customers
