In August I went on a trip to Mozambique. I went on the Cell C site and followed the instructions for roaming to the t. I then called the center to ensure all was activated and they confirmed it was. I also carefully read the data rates.
In Mozambique, I turned the phone off and on and I saw that roaming was in fact on... all good so far.
When I tried sending a text, it said 'failed' and when I tried calling i got a voice prompt telling me i was not authorised to make a call! even though roaming was on. Someone told me it had happened to him before and what Cell C had failed to do was turn on international calling. Roaming was on but int calling was not.
I now had no way to contact my wife except through Watsapp. (using data) in chatting to folk on the trip and looking at the data tariffs we thought that a few watssapp's for 5 day would maybe rack up a R1000 bill which at the end of the day would not be too bad - and it would allow me to stay in touch with my wife.
After 3 days, I got a call form Cell C informing me that my bill was sitting on R4500! Cell C said they would investigate but to date have not and today they debited R5000 form my account. Cant get hold of anyone
