As I'm a member of Discovery medical aid now for over 3 years. Currently I'm paying just over R5000pm for myself and 2 children. Last week I was informed that I need an operation on my shoulder and it is important to get the operation. I phoned on Monday to get Authorization and was told I need to make a co payment of R4700. After phoning again to finf out why I was told due to the fact that I'm on a high plan with gap payment options they dont pay for the arthroscopy (camera). Why the is this, I'm paying a lot of money for my medical aid and still need to pay in if you need surgery. Well Thanks Discovery I wound be able to get the surgery as you already take a load full of money from me every month for basically nothing, I dont have that kind of money laying around espesially on such short notice.
