Was admitted for Surgery on the 27th May. Even before then, I attended on the Sunday (26th) and the front desk helped with pre-admission, totally unexpected.
Arrived, checked in and taken to ward. Visited by the surgeon, the anaesthetist, nurses, everything very professional. In for surgery and out again after a stop in ICU.
The entire week from start to finish could not have been handled better, the ward staff were brilliant, nurses are excellent and the care totally professional. Wandered through to the ICU for a smoke about 11:30 one night, and even there they were friendly and professional.
The surgeon mentioned that, due to the nature of my operation (back fusion), stopping smoking would help the healing of the bones, and in fact that 42% more smokers are re-admitted because of healing problems. More emphasis on this within the ward, maybe a fact sheet because that is a frightening figure.
Anyway, thanks very much, highly recommended to anyone with surgery due, that this hospital is the best.
PS, I quit smoking on the 16th.
