Netcare
Gross Negligence in Hospital

My daughter has a cough that was being treated with antibiotics. On Thursday she was complaining of chest pains and side pains. In the night she had an asthma attack and we rushed her toClinton Hospital which is close to my home. I will not go to Union because of service issues there as well. At casualty i must state that the Sisters were very helpful and understanding. The doctor on duty came through and we explained and he examined the child, prescribed antibiotics and told us to go home. My daughter had mentioned the pains and i also re-iterated this as i had not been sleeping and found it quite disturbing, but was sent home. At home she continued crying of pain. I then brought my 4 year old daughter to Life Brenthurst, where the doctor insisted on an xray to assess and to be sure (which is what we expect from doctors). Xrays confirmed that my daughter had a chest infection and pneumonia and she was immediately admitted. I have never been so grateful for such service, but highly disgusted in Netcare. That for me is gross negligence, because i took the doctors word that it was just a cough and was even telling my baby to calm down, when the underlying ailement was overlooked
