On 13 Nov '12 I received a quote from the Kelvin for construction work. He insisted on a 75% deposit to buy all materials before suppliers close in Dec. I agreed & accepted his quote 16th Nov, time line was 3 wks.
After about 1 week I approached Kelvin about materials not onsite, he explained that everything is on schedule and promised to have the rest of the team onsite. he requested an extra R5000 deposit which I gave him.
On 18 Dec Kelvin came to site and explained that he don't have money to continue- with an open roof and easy entry to my home I had little to no choice but to buy roof material to a total cost of 10 000. From here on Kelvin committed to work every day but failed to show up then commit to the following day... the morning of 27th Dec I called and he said he decided to close shop until 7th Jan. at this point my boundary wall was chopped out and had no secure parking for my cars. I told Kelvin he can't leave things in this state but he didn't seem to care.
On the 28th the 2 guys came to collect their tools as Kelvin was now missing and failed to pay them for some time, I then found out the guys were subcontracted by Kelvin.
