I am absolutely appalled at the state Kyalami is in. I find it so hard to believe that Kyalami hosted an international event like World superbikes in 2009 and 2010. Yet it makes sense why the event was taken away from them.
On Saturday the 23rd of February 2013, Kyalami hosted the Super Series. Entrance was R120 for VIP. We later found out that the VIP area was 4 little gazebos, absolutely nothing special. We then went and sat in the bomas, but we had to sit amongst the biggest and tallest weeds I have ever seen. The thatch roofs are disintegrating, windows are broken and there was not one clean bathroom nearby.
There were also not enough vendors selling food and cool drinks. If you wanted anything, you had to walk all the way to pit lane. And the one and only shop that was open was pretty much sold out by lunch time. It is absolutely pathetic.
Kyalami looks disgusting and the track itself is in poor condition. We lost 2 riders lives there on the 9th of February 2013. When is action going to be taken to get Kyalami back to its former glory??
