I was unhappy with the premium I was paying on my vehicle insurance, so I hence phoned and spoke to a consultant on Friday 12th April. I asked that my premium come down as I was going to phone a competitor who I was sure could beat the current premium. I was informed that the 'maximum discount' was already applied to my policy, so I hence went ahead to phone the competitor. As expected the competitor offered me a better deal and with lower excess, and given that my current insurer had assured me that my current premium already had the 'maximum discount', I moved to the competitor. On phoning Miway to then cancel the policy, I was then informed of a new (much more discounted premium) and with NO excess. At the time I declined as after being on the phone for around an hour to get to that point, working hours were now virtually over in any case. Monday morning I thought I would follow up to find out if Miway could follow through on the quote, but because I am now 'cancelled' I was informed they cannot meet the quote they previously gave me, and appeared happy to be away with a loyal client who had been with them for 5 years with no claim history. Unnecessarily messed around!
