My car was in Jun'13. After being recovered, it has taken A MONTH to finally get word from Outsurance that it is considered a write-off, and to be given an amount that they will pay out.
I used the TransUnion Car Value Application [URL Removed] and entered my number plate and selected the items my car include on the form and received a Retail amount that was R6892 more that the Retail amount Outsurance gave me (Which they get from a TransUnion book.)
I have repeatedly asked for an explanation for the difference, but the email responses always ignore that question and simple state where their amount comes from. (EVERYTIME, seriously, I know where you get your amount from). Outsurance do not seem interested in explaining the discrepancy. Bad for profits/bonuses I guess.
The standard VW alloy wheels that came on the car from VW are apparently optional??? and I needed to specify them.
It also seems that on pay-out amounts, the condition, millage and "factory" extras are not factored in when calculating the pay-out amount? I wouldn't know why, they never answer the questions in my emails. A total of 16 emails (so far) and still no properly answered emails.
