I have had my property in the market for the last 18 monts, in the current market situation it is difficult to sell a property and get your price. Eventually I got a cash offer at the end of April. The cancellation figures for my bond were requested by the attorney. The transaction was registered 3 days ago. When paying the balance due the bank deducted R7000 penalty because they were not notified 3 monts ago that the bond will be cancelled. I GOT A CASH OFFER less than 3 months ago, when did the bank want to be notified when I put the property in the market or when it was sold? This is an INSULT I have been a customer over 20 years and all my accounts and another bond is with Standardbank. I spoke to a consultant and manager in homeloans and their attitude was just that, it is a bank rule. I will also refer the matter to the consumer council as this is not a fair way to treat a client and I WILL take all my accounts away from Standardbank!
