I boarded the Intercape bus on 2013-09-01 @ 22:00 in Durban. All was well up until we found ourselves stuck around the Tugela area round about 01:50 the following morning. All passengers started wondering why we had suddenly come to a halt & why nobody had bothered to inform us what was happening. My agitation drove me to leave my seat and go to the drivers cabin & ask the hostess what was happening. I found the cabin crew enjoying a good chat over some soft drinks. I was casually informed by the hostess that there had been an accident where a truck spilt some oil on the road so traffic had been stopped INDEFINITLY! I asked why we as the passengers had not been updated I was just dismissed on the spot. I returned to my seat and informed those close to me about what we were facing. We didn't think much of it up until we found ourselves stuck on the same spot 7hrs later. The long & short of it is that I was due to land in Pretoria at around 06:40 but I only got there around 18:00. I missed a whole day of work which I will not get paid for. I know it was not Intercapes fault but why did the crew not have the decency to update us & apologize for the inconvenience caused? DISAPPOINTED!
