Airports Company South Africa
No humanity shown after death on tarmac

My husband died on the tarmac of the East London Airport on the 3rd July after disembarking a SA Express flight. My daughter and I were at the airport to collect him at 19h00 and couldn't locate him. Airport staff would not give us any information. At 19h35, two airport officials took us into a room and told us that there had been an incident on the plane and my husband had been taken to hospital by ambulance, but they didn't know which ones. They gave me his luggage and said they would let me know in 5 Minutes, I never saw them again. Left alone, I phoned hospitals from my cell. At 19h44 a woman from SAA gave me a telephone directory and telephone to start phoning hospitals, she left. But I was so distraught I couldn't use it and continued on my cell. No hospital I phoned had him, I phoned my brother to search hospitals. At 20h05 an air traffic controller leaving the airport asked my daughter who she was looking for, he then remarked, " You looking for the dead man who has been lying on the tarmac for 1 and half hours" She collapsed, passengers assisted us. We found out they had to walk around his body. There are a lot of unanswered questions, even to what happened to my husband.
