I had my 3G dongle on Thursday Evening 28 Feb, without my knowledge.
The culprit managed to rack up a bill of just short of R 30 000 on my account in just a two and a half days until Cell C cut it off due to suspicious activity. I only realised the dongle had been the following Monday.
My first complaint is why the account had to get to almost R 30K before the was detected? I only use it for cellular data, which is a R 300 a month contract?
Secondly, it has been 4 days since I reported the and requested that someone from the billings department contact regarding the above issue but have still had no correspondence even after numerous calls to the call centre. R 30 000 is an excessive amount of money for me, especially on such a small contract, but all i have received so far is a break down of the billings. I have been told that someone from billings as well as the /claims department will call me back but i've heard nothing.
Finally, SmartPhone, one of the subscription services that was utilised has given me the Cell C number which received money via Load a Buddy. Cell C has been informed about this but nothing has been done to stop its use.
