What does it take to get modem activated?

I ordered a cell c modem online and received it on 19 Feb. I tried calling since then and cannot get through on the number that I have to call to activate it. I am on hold for 30 minutes and then the call gets cut off. I sent e-mails to the customer service e-mail address and got automated response back that written correspondence can be expected in 24-48 hours but none was received. On Friday 22 Feb I sent an e-mail for the modem to rather be collected as I cannot use it and have wasted a lot of airtime calling from my vodacom number to get this thing activated. I didnt get a response on the collection of modem e-mail either. So now I am at my wits end. What do I do with their fancy speed stick and unactivated sim card as I do not need it anymore. Walked in to a vodacom on Saturday and walked out with an activated stick IMMEDIATELY after the application was processed.
