In august 2013 I took out a data contract with Telkom Mobile for R159p/m with 6gb day and night surfer data. At the time I was told that at any time if I require to up the data to a higher bundle I can at no penalty. 5 months into the contract I require a higher data bundle which Telkom offer at R289p/m for 15gb. I called the call centre who informed me it is possible but only at the store. The lenasia store said it is impossible and cannot be done however the T&C as per the website indicate.
The subscriber may upward migrate without any penalties at any time during the fixed term agreement.
The subscriber shall retain any balance of the Once-Off Internet bundles at time of upward migration.
The subscriber shall continue with the existing contract agreement, and shall not be considered to have entered into a new contract agreement based on the migration request.
Subscribers who are subscribed to old offers can migrate to the new broadband offers.
I was told that the regional manager said that he will cancel my contract and give me a new 24month contract forfeiting any payments I have made on my device. He refused to speak to me over the phone from the store which is against the T&C
