I've been struggling with my Telkom line for close to a year now to be honest. The speeds are absolutely atrocious. I'm on a " 4 meg " line and get download speeds of anywhere between 2.1 kbps to 110 kbps averaging at about 70 kbps if I'm lucky. My speedtests are even more of a joke ending on between 0.22 mb/s
and 0.4 mb/s. On a good day it might reach just over 1mb/s. Numerous complaints have been phoned in and their solution to everything seems to be to re sync the line. Still no difference. My last call that I logged (about two weeks ago) a gentleman phoned me from Telkom to tell me " there is not enough bandwidth at the exchange for the area". This is absolutely shocking! Unacceptable. If you can't provide me with 4mb/s then don't charge me for it!! Proportion my bill to the level of service I get. There is also no continuation within the faults department i.e it's as if every time I log a fault with Telkom for this problem it's treated as if it's something new. I expect i reply from someone at Telkom that knows what is going on and can provide a solution. Failing which Icasa will be my next step.
