I took out a contract with MTN for a tablet for my son who was going to university in December 2012. The first invoice was sent to his new tablet. I did an EFT to the MTN account (over R500) but filled in the number the invoice came from as a reference number instead of his new tablet number as the reference number. I soon realized my mistake and immediately went to the Stellenbosch square with all my proof of payments to rectify the reference number mistake. They told me that I had to go to the bank to rectify my mistake which I did. The bank said that MTN had to accommodate the problem since it was still paid into the correct account. I went back after which all the proof of payments were sent to to the accounts division (3 times in total). According to them the sim card would then be unlocked. This either did not work or only worked temporarily. I went back several times over the past few months. Over the entire year it has been active for no more than 2 months in total and he received only 1 GIG of data in total, instead of 1 GIG per month. According to them that first payment in still outstanding I do not know who to talk to any longer. It is like talking to a wall!
