Recently, Afrihost sent me an email informing me that ADSL in my area had been upgraded to 10Mbps. The email gave me a link to upgrade to the new speed. I opted for the faster speed and accepted the increased costs. HOWEVER, after the supposed upgrade, my speed stayed at 4Mbps.
I phoned the Afrihost call centre to enquire. The agent investigated and confirmed that 10Mbps was in fact not available in my area. I asked the agent to downgrade my line again, but he refused, stating that I need to do it myself in the client zone by unbundled my package with them, setting down the speed and then re-bundling.
I find this completely unacceptable. Afrihost had no difficulty upgrading my package and debiting my account, but are now claiming they cannot downgrade me or refund the money they took from me. And this after I only upgraded after Afrihost had investigated and informed me that and upgrade was possible.
I have sent several emails to Afrihost support regarding this, but still no useful reply.
