Get the basics right

I applied to have a land line put in at my house. This was about 3 weeks ago. On Thursday, 24 October 2013, someone from Telkom left a letter in my mail box saying they could not get into my house to do the installation. No surprise there... I was at work, as no one informed me of this. Thereafter, I tried to get another date. The installation is suppose to happen tomorrow, however no one can tell me at what time or how long it will take. Everyone at Telkom that I have spoken to, keeps saying sorry, but I still dont have a land line. I cannot understand how Telkom struggles for a month to get a land line installed. Is this not their most basic service? I am pretty sure they would not want to wait a month for me to pay for their services, so why must I wait a month before I can start using their services. I guess this is what happens when there is no competition. It really is pathetic. Telkom can close their doors the minute another company opens with this service. I am not the only person who have had this problem.
