What have Telkom done?

Hi Guys, this is not a complaint, more of a cry for help... I don't now what to do... I applied for a 4 meg uncapped ADSL line from Telkom last week. The lady over the phone (Her name was Dudu) said she would get back to me. Yesterday Telkom installed something in the flat outside the house. No one contacted me as I was at work. There was no modem given. All that was left was a land line number (My new land line number) Telkom doesn't even have my bank account details, how do they want to collect their payment each month? So, I phone Telkom today and the lady on the other other side said I indicated I have my own modem and own service provider? WHAT? Where? How? I don't have any of those things, lol. And why did the technician installed where he thought it would be nice? I want it inside my house... Please please help me, I need to use my internet ASAP. Like I said, it's no complaint, I just need assistance please...
