TELKOM ADSL TECH DEPT ARE

I Live in Blackheath, a stones throw from a Telkom complex. 1 year ago i moved here and signed up for 2mb uncapped ADSL.

Things were peachy for a month or two before we started having severe latency issues on the line during specific times. I practically drove myself insane troubleshooting this issue for 100s of hours for 6 months. 3 routers, 4 ISPS, millions of mails and line faults, conversations and mails to store managers and technicians. EVENTUALLY i managed to get Telkom to admit that the exchange/dlsam is incapable of handling the traffic in the area and plans were in place to correct this. 6 months has passed with nothing, and now the internet has become totally un-usable anytime except 11am to about 4pm during the week. The EXACT times myself and everybody else is at work.

Telkom knew well what the problem was from my first line-fault, know exactly when this will/wont be fixed, but leave me chasing my tail for a full year while collecting THOUSANDS of rand in the process, and selling more packages on the same exchange. My latency has become 800ms average to Rosebank (10km) = 100% packet loss. Next post I will make months of speedtests available for all to downlo
