Nashua Mobile
Non disclosure of pricing and Insurance impact

Please advise what my options are regarding the Consumer Protection Act and what I should do?
I have a contract with a cell phone provider since 1997 without any insurance claims and assumed the cell phone insurance is automatically included and adjusted when I do the normal upgrade every 24 months. The last upgrade I did on 1 July 2013 for an Apple iPhone.
o I was not made aware of the actual price of the phone other than what the package options contained and how much this would cost me monthly.
o The price of the phone is not mentioned in any of the agreements that I signed
o Neither the sales person nor the agreement mentioned that my existing insurance was for a value of R5000 and that I would need to consider increasing the insurance.
Our house was burgled over the weekend and the phone was taken. I am now advised that my insurance is short and if I want the same phone I must pay in the amount of R4905 or take a phone for the value of R5000.
I feel that the price of the phone and the insurance short fall is vital information that was not disclosed and I was not given the opportunity to make an informed decision to increase the insurance.
