In about 2009, I discovered that I had a Cell C contract that I had not been aware of. I called Cell C and they assured me the account had been deactivated because they had discovered it was. I was assured everything had been sorted out. The account had apparently been opened in 2008.
Over the years, every time I have applied for a Cell C contract online, they call me and once I give them the ID number, nobody has gotten back to me. I always wondered why since I have a clean credit record. Last week, I went to the Cell C outlet at Boulders in Midrand where I was informed that my ID had been blacklisted as fradulent in 2008!!! I am now paying the price for Cell C's poor controls over account opening. In the meantime, I have 3 prepaid SIMs with Cell C that I use for data and they are RICA'd with the same "" ID. How does that make sense??
I really don't care about the contract anymore but I want my name to be cleared. Its just so ridiculous and pathetic from Cell C. To make matters worse, the Cell C outlet at Boulders has no working phones and they have to communicate by email with the Department. Very absurd!
