My wedding date was scheduled on the 30th March 2013, on which I had 5 bridesmaids dresses custom made by the company called Lanco Bridal. As I was aware of the post office strikes, I specifically indicated on email that the package should be directly couriered to my home address in order to avoid delays and on the 16th March 2013 an email was sent that the package had been posted. Lanco Bridal sent the package via normal post and as predicted the dresses did not arrive in time before or on the wedding day after weeks of designing and full payment already made. A few days before the wedding, much cheaper back-up bridesmaids dresses were sent by Lanco Bridal.
After the wedding I again enquired about the bridesmaids dresses, since they are still not currently in my possession, with regards to compensation or some sort of agreement. Half of the original quoted amount (R5500 was the full amount) would have been sufficient (the back-up dresses wasn't close to the amount I payed for the original dresses), though the director claimed they carry no liability for these dresses. They suggested to advertise the dresses on their webpage for sale and indicated that I should take them to court
