Having recently purchased two packets of Spar brand chicken portions (I usually purchase another brand in preference) I was shocked by the amount of water injected into the portions, apparently to keep the chicken moist, which came out when cooked - over 1 ltr from two 1.8 kg packets. It would appear that Spar are bulking up their chicken portions by adding water and selling the said water as chicken. This Spar brand of chicken portions is only fit for soup, at least one does not need to add water when cooking it. I will not buy this brand again and will advise anyone to do the same, if Spar is selling watered down chicken how many of their other products are also padded out with something else to increase the profit margins?
