Bad attitude & refuse to refund

We purchased a Platinum Glass Kettle in November last year.

a Month ago, the kettle started with problems. Firstly, the lid didn't want to close properly and secondly, the kettle didn't switch off automatically anymore.

Sunday, 24 March 2013 we returned to Checkers Gezina to get a refund as the warranty stated that you can return the item or get a refund. We were refused a refund and Christine (admin), said that the kettle is working and that the supplier will not take the item back.

She tested the kettle and agreed that the lid didn't want to close properly and that it also doesn't switch off. With this being done, she told me "but the kettle is working".

After a huge argument, still refusing to refund my money, she told me she will give me another kettle and take the loss (said this with a very bad attitude and body language). No option was given to me, to purchase another kettle brand, the kettle was stuffed into my hands and I was rudely excused.
My warranty of the new kettle wasn't extended.
I will never buy any Platinum item again. If this is the way that Platinum treat their customers, we will tell everyone about the bad service we get from Checkers and Platinum.
