National Bargaining Council For The Electrical Industry
Failure to cancel services

December 2009 I stopped operating as an electrical contractor and notified the NBCEI to cancel their services. (One have to pay a levy towards the organization for funding them.) They keep on sending me invoices for the monthly levies, I have phoned them a number of times, sent them e-mails, eventually I gave up. December 2012 (3 years later) I received a threatening letter from a lawyer about the outstanding fees.

Most services can be cancelled via e-mail or a telephone call. These people just don't listen or do anything, it is like trying to move a brick wall. Now I have sleepless nights because of the letter and for what? The period that I was a contractor I have never used their expertize but paid them on time every month. Surely if a person does not pay you for 3 years are you not going to wonder why? Perhaps I should paint a message on their building windows "I'm closed for business don't need your services anymore".

I have wrote a letter to their head office hoping something will happen.
