Lack of Customer Service

I purchased a Sony MP3 player about 12 months ago but unfortunately no longer have proof of purchase. On 22 January 2013 I handed the faulty item in for a quote on repairs. On 28 February I received an sms advising that the item was ready for collection but was never contacted for the requested quote. On Friday 1 March I went to collect the item and was advised by the staff member that nothing was done to the item. Now please explain what was the purpose of handing it in if nothing was done in 6 weeks? The lady at the store merely pulled up her shoulders when I asked the question. This is not acceptable and would like a response to the lack of service received from your store?
