I went to Game at Clearwater today with a Makro pamphlet to buy a fridge. When I got there I showed the sales person the price for the fridge I wanted which was R 3299 while Game was selling it at R3699. My understanding of the discount is that a person will get the discounted price plus a 10% discount. According to my calculation this amounted to R 2969.10 (3299*90%), to which the sales person agreed. When I got to the till, I was charged R 3259 for the fridge which I was not expecting. The manager said that the discount of 10% is worked on the difference between the Game price and the Makro price. When I then queried that I had agreed with the sales person the final price that I would have to pay, he replied that that is the policy. Had the sales person told me the policy from the word go, I would have gone to the till with the knowledge that I would be paying R 3259. I was very disappointed in the treatment of this whole thing.
