Unacceptable Service and Delivery Times

I ordered gifts on homechoice on 2 December. Once I received confirmation I waited a few days and then followed up with the call centre only to be informed that some items were not in stock. I informed the call centre agent of the urgency of the items as I was going on leave and needed them for gifts today on 12 December. He indicated that he could cancel the order that was out of stock and could not guarantee the delivery date of its replacement however could guarantee that I would receive at least one of my items in time to gift it. I received an sms on Monday 09 December informing me that my item had been dispatched and so I assumed that I would receive it within a day or two in time for my gift needs. I have just called the call centre to try and track the item since I have not received it and was very rudely informed that the delivery could take up to two weeks from dispatch! This is unacceptable. What is the point of receiving a gift after I need it. Is it homechoice policy for its call centre staff to make false promises? I need my gift before 12 today. Why is it impossible to ensure that I receive it since it is already despatched. I am extremely unhappy with this company
