On Saturday 7 December 2013 Cotton On promotional staff were employed to encourage people to enter the store by offering them a 20% discount card. They handed these cards to many eager shoppers who because of the promised discount entered the store. We purchased around R700 worth of clothing and when we eventually got to the till we were advised that the card was only valid from the 8th December despite the fact that the card stated that the discount was applicable from the 7th.

When we asked to speak to the regional manager who apparently gave this instruction we were told that they are not permitted to give out his contact details - a great way to deal with a customer complaint.

We eventually got hold of the number and spoke the regional manager, Elton. He reconfirmed this misrepresentation and further explained that they were handing out the Sandton cards at the Fourways branch and handing out the Fourways cards at the Sandton branch to ensure that they do not have to honour their discount offer.

The tiller took around 30 minutes to clear only 3 customers and the blaring taxi rank music is something I won't rush back for.
