I went to Nike in Sandton City this morning to buy another pair of shoes. I was greeted by the same guy that always helps me. The guy who help me was very polite and helpful. After choosing my pair of new shoes which cost R1599.00 I ask if I could get any discount. I was told he would speak to the manager for me.
He came back to me with the manager and when I spoke to him he told me that "We are a premium store and don't give out any discounts to customer not even R50". R50 is 3% of the price of the shoes.
I have been buying from the Nike store in Sandton City for many years now and have never asked for a discount. I don't need the discount but it would be nice to have since I am a very long term customer and I have been loyal to Nike.
The impression I received from the manager is that well we are Nike we don't need to care if you want you want. Someone else will come buy these. They do not value me as an individual customer.
This is sad that the staff are so helpful and polite and yet the manager thinks he is above and better than everyone.
