I was living in the UK and hired Gawie Maritz to apply for, and send me, my long form birth certificate. As was his policy back then, I had to pay upfront for the service.
While Gawie did submit my application for me, that's where his efforts ended. 4 weeks after I paid him, I still hadn't heard from Gawie and I began e-mailing and calling him to follow up, but he never replied to any of my messages. On the rare occasions when he would answer his phone, as soon as he realized it was me speaking he would simply hang up.
Eventually, I ended up having to fly down to SA and I had an agonizing experience trying to figure out where he had submitted my application (as that was the only Home Affairs office where I would be able to pick up my birth certificate).
Gawie subsequently changed the name of his company - in part because he is trying to cover his tracks, I think, and avoid clients like me whom he . "GMTM Consultants" is a relatively new name.
I have read that other clients have had success with Gawie... but honestly, it's not worth the risk of hiring him. If he burns you (and perhaps changes his company name again!), the time and cost to you will be so painful!
