I am totally disgusted!! 2 days ago (10/09/2013) I purchased 2 large pickled eisbein and froze them. Today I took them both out to cook supper for 3 people with enough leftovers for sandwiches. They were both marked sell by 22/09/2013. Upon opening the one I found the vacuum bag inside to have a label folded under the meat out of sight that stated the sell by date as 05/09/2013 & it stunk to high heaven! I kept both the inside & outside packaging to return tomorrow together with the stinking eisbein. What prompted me to report on this site was the leftover eisbein once it was cooked - the pile of fat was greater than the edible meat (which was more normal pork than pickled). I took photo's of the pile of fat & the much smaller pile of meat. There was only enough for a tablespoon portion of meat for each of us for supper! This from R92.00 worth of meat! Someone obviously repackaged the one deliberately hiding the long overdue expired date in the hope that the unsuspecting consumer would not complain! Absolutely disgraceful Food Lovers Market (Food Conners Market)!!!
