Customers fault for purchasing off meat?

On Sunday, the 4th August my husband and I went and bought a fillet from Checkers Mackertaun, when we got home and were preparing supper we opened the fillet and it was off. We live in Danville so it was quickest for my husband to go to Virginia Checkers. I called and spoke to a lady, at 16h30 - I did not get her name but explained our predicament and asked if we could return it to the Virginia and swop it for another one. She insisted that I needed to confirm whether they could with the manager and asked if the manager could call me back. I explained that I could not wait hours for the a call as we had already cooked all our vegetables and needed an answer quickly. She took my number and put the phone down on me without saying goodbye - this is terribly rude!! My husband eventually drove down swopped the fillet - still waiting my call.

My husband said that the staff that dealt with him did not at any stage apologise for the fact that we had been sold off meat! He said he was treated like he had actually done something wrong?!?!?!

I work at Virginia airport and from now on will drive past Checkers to Glenore Spar where I get greeted and treated as a customer should.
