I suddenly started receiving daily sms's, emails, phone calls from MBD Collections about 4 months ago, who say that I owe money on an account via Mr Price. I never had an account with Mr Price, and when confronting them, they insist on sending me a statement with an original total amount owing their interest over years, but no proof of the account number & amount owing relating to the original account can be given. I suspect that the book from one of my other long-since paid-up and closed clothing accounts ie Milady's or Donna Claire was "sold" to Mr Price, who in turn found a few cents outstanding in some weird financial way, and then handed this over to MBD to collect 6 years later! Whatever you say or ask MBD is not answered, they just continue sending you their "statement" with ever-increasing interest amounts and threatening you via sms, email and phone calls. I think the only way to stop this is to lay a charge with the police and force them to furnish proof of the outstanding debt and who it was with. If anyone else has managed to sort this out, I would be happy to hear how it was done.
