Having shopped at this branch for ALL our groceries and daily requirements of bread, milk, fruit, veg and everything else, since their opening there many years ago, Checkers has seen the last of our business. Why?
Yesterday we bought 2 packs of cigarettes for our cleaning lady. This happens every time we go there, saving her the time and the walk. The staff at the cigarette counter know us well and also know about the specific brand we always buy. At home we discovered that the counter lady had given us 1 pack that was the wrong "type".
Doing the daily bread and milk this morning, we though we could exchange the wrong pack. Nice try. The curt and final response: "We do not exchange cigarettes". End of story. Not even with presentation of the slip and the acknowledgement of the counter lady that she had given us the wrong item the day before.
A small thing, but a clear indication of what Checkers Rock Cottage think of our daily business. Pick 'n Pay is just across the road and even offers pensioner discounts 3 days of the week.
