I was grocery shopping at Checkers my handbag was in the trolley I bent down to pick up something I had dropped and when I stood up I immediately saw my bag was open and my Iphone 4s had been.
I was in shock but grabbed a Checkers staff member straight away and explained what had happened, she called the manager over and this is where the reason for my complaint comes in.
I was in a flat panic but I immediately asked if he could call the cellphone, it was still on, he insisted I may still have it, upon calling it again, it was off. Straight away I asked to see CCTV footage, this is when I was told that there are no camera's in Checkers Rondebosch! This I found to be shocking news. I certainly do not feel safe shopping with no camera's. ( Later I am told by the Rondebosch Police that they do have camera's for show but they do not work. )
I then ask the manager if he is able to to close the store down and search the people inside, he refused, I then asked if he could search his staff and he again refused. He was unwilling to help in any way and blamed me for having my cell. He was extremely rude and unhelpful. You are not safe shopping at Checkers Rondebosch.
