In January of this year I got a phone call from debt collectors, notifying me that I have to pay my Woolies account or I will get blacklisted.
Very confused, I contacted Woolworth's to find out what happened, since I had already paid my account 2 weeks prior, 5 days before the due date, via EFT. I had to email them my proof of payment. They claimed that the payment will have to be tagged as 'lost/missing'.
Yes, they LOST my payment.
Anyway, after 2 weeks of following up all overdue fees were removed from my account (except for the fee I had to pay for them 'correcting' THEIR mistake), it was finally sorted out. Or so I thought...
Today I phoned my bank to request a credit card limit increase, and found out that they actually decreased it this month due to a bad credit record. And I would have to wait 6 months before reapplying for an increase.
Woolworth's has cost me more than the embarrassment of having to explain to a debt collector what my situation was, they have now cost me my credit record, that I have worked very hard to keep.
Good job Woolworth's.
