I went to purchase boerewors at Pick n Pay, Jubilee mall, Hammanskraal, on Saturday afternoon. I requested the butcher who was a lady, short in height looks like in her late 30's, if I may have a boerewors to be weighed. I jokely ask if there was any traces of donkey or baffullo meat in the wors. At the back of their kitchen there was a gentleman who responded to my question and said, yes there is a donkey meat in the wors and maybe traces of horse meat inside as well. After that I immediately ask the lady to leave the order and said No thanks to their meat. the gentleman continued talking and said "she is not serious, if she wanted the boerewors, she should have just bought it, she might as well go somewhere else". I decided to opt for fish even through I had a braai at my house later that same evening. I bough my wors at the same mall at Spar, as I asked the same question to them about the meat inside, they actually promised me where and how do they make their wors and its 100% beef. I definately will NOT go back to that store for my monthly meat purchases. And being working in the food inducstry myself for 15 years, we always treat a customer with respect and product quality.
