My car was broken into on Thursday evening 2013-09-05 between 19:55 and 21:30 while, while attending Virgin Active, being parked 15m west from the entrance on the first floor, closest to the Virgin Active entrance, directly within sight of a security camera.
The Bel Air Shopping Centre is "guarded" by the Fidelity Security Group.
The back passenger side window was smashed and my wallet, ID, driver license, cellphone and few Rand were.
The Flying Squad recovered my documents, bank cards and ID at the Allendale off-ramp and I had them back by 02:00 Friday morning.
Naturally the "guard" didn't see or hear anything.
And then I was instructed to leave my car at the site for inspection by the same guard who didn't see or hear anything. He was informed regarding copulation in a far-off place.
This kind of negligence is just shocking but seems par for the course looking at the rest of the complaints.
Park under the covered parking and don't leave anything valuable in your car. Perhaps the "guards" can see and hear better there.
