We then decided to go for dinner just after 20:00. We arrived back at the hotel at about 22.30 and went straight to bed. The next morning while getting ready for breakfast (7.30am), my husband noticed that our money had been OUT OF his zipped clothing bag. The amount of R4300. We were horrified and sick to our stomach's. Immediately notifying the hotel Manager (Mr Kingdom) and Head of Security. They inspected our room (from our bags to even under the mattresses and bed) and even our car. At the end of the day we were told, "sorry the hotel cannot do anything about this. It is the hotels responsibility to take ownership for this as someone with a key got access to OUR supposed secure room and took our money. If we left the money in the bag when knowing housekeeping was going to be there (in the mornings), we would have taken the blame. But this was after 20:00 at night, when housekeeping is not allowed. When we asked the hotel Manager who has keys, he said just us (the guest) and a spare/master is kept in reception. Surveillance cameras in reception where the second key is kept, DOES NOT WORK!!! We will not accept this loss due to the hotels pathetic security!!!
