Managing an old age home is tough enough without having our elevator out of action for a week. We arranged to have an upgrade from mechanical controls to electronic controls (at some cost!) and were told that the elevator would be out of action for up three days. On day three, the installer, a sub-contractor, was finished but needed an Otis technician to complete the job. We are variously told that the technician is "not available" or called out on another emergency. It's now the end of day three and despite various calls and promises of call-backs from managers, our elderly residents are still having to walk up four flights of stairs.
